Scholarship Information & Links

There are thousands of scholarships available to students and criteria varies from community service, academics, athletics, and even if you write with your left hand. Many scholarships ask for verification of community service hours, may have short essays on what your career goals are, or why you feel you are deserving of a particular scholarship. The following are links to just a few scholarship websites that you may want to consider in your search for possible scholarships. Good luck!

  • Community Colleges of Spokane Foundation – Application is due annually mid-January. These scholarships are for students applying to Spokane Community College and Spokane Falls Community College – Apply at CCS Foundation Scholarship
  • TheWashBoard is a scholarship site created specifically for Washington students. Check each scholarship provider to verify if scholarship money can be used for college outside of Washington.
  • Innovia Foundation hosts several scholarships available to help students in our region achieve their higher education goals by attending colleges, universities or vocational schools. These funds provide nearly $200,000 in scholarships annually. Most scholarships are due March 1 and applications open the first week of December.

  • Going Merry has thousands of national, regional, and local scholarships. To sign up, go to: https://app.goingmerry.com/sign-up#students - It's free. There are also opportunities for every grade level, from freshmen to seniors. You can also download the Going Merry mobile app (and sign up that way) on iOS or Android.

Follow these steps when applying for a scholarship:
  1. Research applicable scholarships
  2. Organize scholarships by deadlines
  3. Review the scholarship’s requirements
  4. Set up interviews (if required)
  5. Prepare any portfolio (if required)
  6. Request reference letters (Many sponsors will want them. Make sure you give your references adequate time to prepare. You will most likely receive a better quality reference this way.)
  7. Request or print any special application forms
  8. Fill out first application (in chronological order by deadline)
  9. Research and write essay (if applicable)
  10. Review and edit all pieces of application
  11. Make copies of all pieces of application
  12. Submit application in requested form (electronic, mail etc)
  13. Check with sponsor to verify they received your application and all documents
  14. Move on to next chronological application
Students can also stop by the counseling center if they have any questions on scholarships.
